Bug Description

The package mldonkey-server is missing in the universe sources for hirsute.
As a workaround the package for groovy can be installed: https://packages.ubuntu.com/groovy/mldonkey-server (currently version 3.1.7-2, seems to be the latest).

Thanks for reporting.

Looks like this package was removed because it failed to build. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mldonkey/+publishinghistory and https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=972211 for more details.

Any news on this issue? It seems that release 3.1.7-2 never got an Ubuntu package.

The package mldonkey fails to build from source with ocaml 4.11.1 because -unsafe-string is no longer available in ocaml 4.11.1 and newer.

The package ocaml went from 4.08.1 to 4.13.1 between focal (20.04LTS) and jammy (22.04LTS) and mldonkey disappeared from the package repository with hirsute (21.04).

The corresponding upstream issue is unfixed for almost three years now (May 2020).

As a result Stéphane Glondu from the Debian project requested the removal of mldonkey from Debian.
So it looks like the package mldonkey is history now.

Release 3.1.7-2 did get an Ubuntu package with groovy (20.10) which I am using but the repositories for groovy are gone and the package was removed with newer releases of Ubuntu.

For your convenience I attached a copy of the last Ubuntu package for mldonkey which I downloaded before groovy went out of support from https://packages.ubuntu.com/groovy/mldonkey-server.

It is version 3.1.7-2 and slightly newer than 3.1.6-1fakesync which can still be downloaded from https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/mldonkey-server.
