Bug Description

Whenever I run apt-get install (for any binary) in command line prompt, - I get the follwing error, please help me - what is the fix?

update-gconf-defaults: error: Destination directory does not exist.
dpkg: error processing package gconf2 (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
