Upstream has new version 3.0 available since March 17, 2021; please upgrade the package

As stated in the topic line, the Audacity team has published it's new version 3 on March 17, 2021.
It would be great if you could upgrade the package accordingly. Thank you.

This was reported in Ubuntu 20.10 just prior to that version reaching EOL (End-of-life), however, the version in the current development branch as of this writing is 2.42. As this is synced automatically from Debian, it appears that the Debian package is the one that's the target here.

As with any upgrade requests, this is being marked with "Wishlist" priority. We'd appreciate it if this was reported to Debian if it hasn't been already as this is really an upstream upgrade request. To report this to Debian, see the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Debian/Bugs.

Audacity 3.x depends on wxwidgets3.1, which isn't packaged in Debian and Ubuntu, see https://bugs.debian.org/919903
This year wxwidgets developers plan to release final 3.1.6 release, maybe 3.1.6 will be OK for Debian packaging, see
https://wxwidgets.org/develop/roadmap/
