Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

When a user first installs a fresh copy of Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 on his/her computer, and opens up a page in firefox with a java applet, firefox prompts for the installation of of the java plugin. But when the user presses ok to install it, a dialog pops up stating that the package couldn't be found. This is because the plugin is located in the multiverse repository(I think) which isn't enabled by default.

Workaround: Prompt user to enable the multiverse repository then install the package.

Sorry, I was a bit sloppy in my previous comment.

To be precise, the installation of Java 6 fails; Java 5 works.

Contrary to the initial report, multiverse is enabled for me.

BTW: I can't install the Java 6 plugin with add/remove applications either (it is not in the list).
