Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

New installation from Kubuntu to upgrade to v7.10 a new version was available in Adept Package Manager.

Error - cound not install /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic_2.6.22.14.52_i386.deb May not be in a usable state.

Distribution upgrade to version 7.10 fails at 12%. while installing.

Same error as above. File /var/log/dist-upgrade not found, attaching apport.log as containing some revelant information.

After running "sudo dpkg --configure -a" (which did something to perl --- and it was a perl script that was crashing), updating the kernel went fine.
