Bug Description

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 4th Gen. My OS version is 20.04.

My touchscreen works fine, but when I use my pen the entire OS freezes and even any sound that plays repeats in a loop that is maybe half a second long. The only way I found to get out of this is to force shutdown. I can reproduce this on my laptop without fail. And it is independent of any program I have open.

This problem started around 17th March (I don't remember exactly) and update almost every day.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1920749/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Next time the problem happens, please:

1. Reboot.

2. Run these commands in a Terminal:

   journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
   apport-collect 1920749

3. Attach the resulting text file here.

4. Follow these steps to check for crashes: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#Missing_a_crash_report_or_having_a_.crash_attachment

Since you say the problem started mid-March I wonder if it's a regression in kernel 5.8.0-45.51.

Are you able to boot an older kernel? Please also try some other versions from:
