after upgrade to ubuntu 14.04, system not restarting and touchpad not working

Bug Description

after upgrade to ubuntu 14.04 from ubuntu 12.04, the system is not restarting, however after quickly pressing esc i can run the system on F11 (hp recovery) mode , but in that the touchpad is not working

Hi,
are you using a standard Ubuntu or Ubuntu Trusty with ESM support?
Standard Ubuntu Trusty has already reaches its End-Of-Life on April 2019 [1]
If you're using a standard Ubuntu please give a newer release a try.
