Bug Description

I wonder about the reason of the jump in size for mysql-server-5.0 from feisty to gutsy which added a whopping 15MB (jump from 68 to 83MB). Size has not come down in hardy.

Is there a reason? Anything to push into a separate package or leave out completely? Just wondering. Thank you for your work.

The difference is due to the test suite. In hardy, the mysql test suite
is automatically run at build time. The whole test suite (14M) is
packaged with mysql-server-5.0.

It may be moved to a different package.

The debian experimental package has come down to an installed size of around 25 MB. This is just a matter of time before this issue will be fixed.

FWIW, http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/mysql-server-5.0 is still fairly big in size.
