Bug Description

Evegreen version 3.5.3
OpenSRF version 3.2.1
PostgreSQL version 10.16

I turned on opac.use_autosuggest on a test vm with Evergreen 3.5.3 installed and it does not work.

I restarted services and Apache2. I also checked the templates, etc., to make sure that we had not modified the templates to remove the funtionality.

Jason, did you happen to restart memcached after enabling the global flag? After doing that, and restarting services and apache, autosuggest is working for me in the BooPAC on 3.7, and I have a 3.5 TPAC showing no issues.

My branch for bug 1187993 incorporates the Mike's instructions into the documentation. Should this be considered a documentation issue? If so, does it make sense to mark this as a duplicate, and the documentation PR can be reviewed as a potential fix for this bug?

Autosuggest consistently works for me after restarting memcached, as Mike suggests in comment #2. Bug 1187993 has been merged, which includes documentation about the need to restart memcached. I'm marking this ticket as invalid for now. If there are future problems with autosuggest, we can re-open as needed.
