Bug Description

I got the following error while running "hplip-3.21.2.run" on Ubuntu 20.10 :

$ ./hplip-3.21.2.run
Running 'sudo apt-get install --assume-yes libsane-dev'
Please wait, this may take several minutes...
error: Command failed. Re-try #1...
Running 'sudo apt-get install --assume-yes libsane-dev'

error: Command failed. Re-try #2...
Running 'sudo apt-get install --assume-yes libsane-dev'
Please wait, this may take several minutes...
error: Command failed. Re-try #3...
Running 'sudo apt-get install --assume-yes libsane-dev'
Please wait, this may take several minutes...
error: Package install command failed with error code 100
note: Some packages may not get installed on python3 due to distro incompatibilites

Then if I try to run the faulty command alone :

$ sudo apt-get install --assume-yes libsane-dev
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 libsane-dev : Depends: libsane1 (= 1.0.31-2) but 1.0.31-2ubuntu0.20.10 is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Are we sure sure that the installer is compatible with Ubuntu 20.10 ?

Hi,

Yes. The installer is compatible with the ubuntu 20.10 OS.
Please check if "sudo apt-get update" is not showing any error for you. If it is having errors then please resolve them and re-run the installer.
