Bug Description

Binary package hint: libokularcore1-kde4

apt-get install kde4 failed today.
I found libokularcore1-kde4_4.0.1-0ubuntu2_i386.deb depends on libgs8 (=8.61.dfsg.1-1), but the libgs8 in the repository is libgs8 8.61.dfsg.1-1ubuntu1.
kdegraphics-kde4 needs rebuilding.

This seems like a dependency error indeed, the only changelog entry from ubuntu1->ubuntu2 is a rebuild for a new version of libexiv2.

I can confirm this issue. However, hardy is still under development, therefore such can happen until everything properly compiles.

i'm not sure which ubuntu version you mean, but those two packages are available in hardy. (as a matter of fact, i have them both installed).

oh, btw, its okular-kde4, not ocular-kde4.

As of 2008-02-18 13:37 UTC the dependency for libokularcore1-kde4 is libgs8 (=8.61.dfsg.1-1) and there is 8.61.dfsg.1-1ubuntu1 in repository. Still not fixed then

libokularcore1-kde4 now depends on both libgs8 (<=8.61.dfsg.1-2) and (>=8.61.dfsg.1-1) which seems to cover all posible version so dependencies are met now. Works good.

shouldn't this be marked invalid or something like that now?

I am reporting here because I thought depending on both the <= and >= could be the problem, as I can not install the package either. Could it be that the dependencies are not met if you don't have BOTH the <= and the >= versions for libgs9? For me the option of installing the lower version directly does not appear, but it is the only unmet dependency that I can see for libokularcore1-kde4..

I did force the older version of libgs8 (Do not know how to do it but with synaptic package manager) and the dependency problem disappeared. It sounds strange for me that the 'newer' version had got a lower number than the 'older' one, but don't know about it, maybe the problem was somehow there. I did not take down the version numbers, and after forcing the version, it does not appear as upgradable, neither can I see which the previous version was or force it again. The one I got now is libgs8 8.61.dfsg.1-1ubuntu3, and everything is working fine as it looks like.

I guess the problem is solved, sorry for bothering here with such a mess-I should have tried that first.
