Bug Description

Last month, I installed Ubuntu 20.04, with KDE (KUbuntu). Today, I used Synaptic to install gl-117. The first time I ran the program, my monitor screen went black, and displayed the message "Input Signal Out Of Range." The message also said "Change settings to 1600 x 900." I could hear the sound from gl-117.

This effectively disabled my monitor.

The only thing I could do was force my computer to reboot. The rebooting process was fine. But, when I entered my password, I briefly saw what I think is the KDE logo. But, again, the monitor screen went black, and the same message appeared.

What I expected to happen:
I expected to see some gl-117 graphics on my monitor.

Monitor is an HP S2031.

What happened instead:
gl-117 made some sort of change that prevents me from using my monitor.

Sorry about not providing the additional information you need, but as a result of this bug,
😠 I CAN'T USE MY COMPUTER!! 😠

I'm reported this using an older computer. But, at this time, I'm unable to try using the monitor from this computer on my computer. The old monitor uses VGA, and my computer does not have a VGA port.

I should not have to buy or change hardware as the result of a software bug. 😠

Operating System: Kubuntu 20.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8
Kernel Version: 5.4.0-65-generic
OS Type: 64-bit
Processors: 8 × AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor

Graphics card is NVidia Quadro 600. Monitor is connected to the DVI-I port.

I deleted Gl-117, but Synaptic offers version 1.3.2-3build1 (focal)

I'm able to use my computer by pressing the "Escape" key during boot, then selecting a Recovery Mode. The resolution is poor, and graphics are stretched horizontally. Also, some games run in slow motion.

FYI, I was able to undo the damage. It looks like a bad refresh rate was set. See https://askubuntu.com/questions/1313967/input-signal-out-of-range-after-logging-in-kde/1314034#1314034
