Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

Using Ubuntu Hardy (upgraded to the latest as per 12th Feb) I do not see any usplash stuff.

I see Grub, select my option, then my monitor goes into power save mode. After a bit, GDM comes up and I can login, and everything is fine.

usplash.conf:

# Usplash configuration file
xres=640
yres=480

uname -a:

Linux gBox42 2.6.24-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Feb 7 00:56:31 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

(I ran lspci -vvnn as root as it had access denied messages, and presumed it would be better without them.)

Thanks for these detailed informations. According to what I see, you have a nvidia 8600 card on a 64 bit ubuntu system. This is bug 147623 and it is well known with this specific hardware and as a high priority for the next ubuntu hardy release. According to this, I set this bug as a duplicate of bug 147623. You can stay tuned and look if there is updates that fixes that issues in the next months. Thanks again for your contribution to ubuntu and feel free to report any other bugs you might find.
