Bug Description
Binary package hint: sun-java6-jre
When sun-java6 is installed the JRE has the version 1.4.2-02. Having version 1.5 available would be recommended.
$ java -version
java version "1.4.2-02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build Blackdown-1.4.2-02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build Blackdown-1.4.2-02, mixed mode)

Well, this bug is filed against sun-java6, which should give you a clue.. ;)
Try "update- java-alternativ es", on my system (Hardy) it looks like this: java-alternativ es -l jvm/java- 6-sun jvm/java- 7-icedtea jvm/java- gcj
$ update-
java-6-sun 63 /usr/lib/
java-7-icedtea 1060 /usr/lib/
java-gcj 1042 /usr/lib/
Using update- java-alternativ es, you can change all java-related links to the given java virtual machine.
