Bug Description

Pinta 1.8 development on Ubuntu 20.04:
https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/actions/runs/451486225

1. I have closed the image in Pinta 1.8 and then switch to another program.
2. I switched back to Pinta 1.8 and I started to draw, but no drawing appeared. Then I have realized that I have no image opened at all.
3. In Pinta 1.7 no-canvas background is in grey color and canvas is in white color. It is immediate clear to me that I have no image to draw on.

What I would like is to have some distinguish between image and no image.

I have checked the Gimp and it also has strong distinguish when image or no image is displayed.

This is probably something that will be resolved by 1909565, but keeping this active to ensure it is tracked.
