UPDATE

...and Debian is the winner! And the first obviously!

Tested on Sparkylinux (Debian testing) with nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-340xx (340.108-10) unstable.

System seems working good at the moment.

For those interested driver's metadata is this:

nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-340xx (340.108-10) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Backport drm_prime_pages_to_sg_has_drm_device_arg changes
    from 455.45.01 to fix kernel module build for Linux 5.10.
  * Use a version=4 watch file.

and may be found here:

https://packages.debian.org/sid/nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver

And here you are part of log during kernel 5.10.1 install after installing aforementioned video driver:

<<DKMS: build completed.

Hello everyone,

great Butterfly (kelebek333) again!

Thanks to him we can continue to use our old but still good graphic card with latest 5.10.x LTS kernels also in Groovy:

https://launchpad.net/~kelebek333/+archive/ubuntu/nvidia-legacy

Testing updated drivers since this morning and working great!

I think this bug report may be considered solved unless Ubuntu decides to make official drivers available.

This isn't solved until the patches are added to the ubuntu package, right?

Please unmark it as solved until debian's package is imported into ubuntu?

Kernel 5.11.x patch added to packages of PPA repository. If nvidia driver can not enabled with kernel 5.11, You can look "Notes for kernel 5.11.x update".

Patched Nvidia 340.108 drivers supplied by Butterfly (kelebek333) at https://launchpad.net/~kelebek333/+archive/ubuntu/nvidia-legacy worked very well till kernel 5.17.x.

Unfortunately that driver is no longer compiled with kernels 5.18.x even if it is patched for that.
