Wifi and ethernet not working anymore since 5.4.0-54

Bug Description

Ubuntu 20.04.1 all up to date to latest @ 13/12/2020 (LTS upgraded from 18.04 recently)

Since kernel 5.4.0-54 both wifi and ethernet are not working anymore

lower kernels -53 and -42 still work

i attached dmesg with networking not working on 5.4.0-58

Weirdly the same wifi dongle from this bug, works on 5.4.0-58 on another laptop with 20.04.1

Tryed a fresh install 20.04.1 and wifi and eth both not working again
on kernel 5.4.0-58
the dongle got recognized on setup itself

@Kai-Heng my networking issue still not working on ubuntu-desktop on kernels 5.4.0-54 and higher,
lubuntu was just for testing purposes

yes, kernel on default lubuntu iso worked and the up to date system with 5.4.0-58 networking worked there like a charm

Ok reinstalled ubuntu desktop 20.04.1 fresh on a new ssd
and now it works by default, must have been a faulty spinner, fix released it is :p

seems like its not solved after all, i keep having troubles on kernel 5.4.0-58
and when booting 5.4.0-42 networking its all working again

on gnome settings i get an oops! something went wrong blank page on both wifi + network

i think ive got similar symptons as in bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1908423

where those sympton2 hangs are similar as mine in dmesg

installing linux-image-generic-hwe-20.04-edge also solves the issue aka kernel 5.8.0-33
