Bug Description

Kubuntu 20.04 behaves correctly when I boot with one or two displays. But with three displays I experience a bug on the default one - the one with an initial focus on:

When typing password keystroke after keystroke:

- First character is written and selected
- Second character overwrites the first one because it is selected
- Third character is written and selected
- Forth character overwrites the third one because it is selected
- And so on...

So for example, if you try to type "pAssw0rd" you end up with "As0d" in the input and the login fails, if you try to type "ppAAssww00rrdd" in the input you end up with "pAssw0rd" and login succeeds.

I attached a GIF to demonstrate how does it look like - I type 8 characters and enter: see attachment.

It works correctly when I manually select password input on another display by mouse.

It is not a keyboard problem - it behaves this way only after the computer boot at the default display, after moving (by mouse click) to another display it works fine. I have 2 keyboards (laptop and external) and both have the same behavior. After login, the rest of the day both keyboards works without an issue.

The issue is NOT happening on Kubuntu 22.04.2.

I propose closing it as this weird bug doesn't happen anymore.
