Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I am testing the Ubiquity version on the current Hardy liveCD alpha.

At night Ubiquity was at 100% complete (Copying Installation Logs). When I woke up in the morning it was still at 100% (Copying Installation Logs). Ubquity does not appear to be using any CPU or accessing the harddisk.

After running the install (but not rebooting from harddisk) I found that /var/log was 4.6MB in size. The biggest log was for parted.

Please try one of the later builds. I also had a problem with an
earlier build, but now cannot remember which one. You
used 2.6.24-5 and I did not have a problem with 24-7 or
the most recent 24-8.

I can confirm this bug still exists in 8.04 Alpha 6. Happened at the end of install, has been there for 1 hr now.

I also confirm this bug still exists in alpha6 of Hardy Heron. Every few minutes (or seconds) Ubiquity does something reading the disk with some CPU activity, but it does not seem to produce nothing useful. Just stuck on this.
I think now I'll reboot and hope nothing else has to be done (I do not think there is something else ubiquity has to do, as the setup is complete and GRUB, hardware config and everything else has been done), but that's a really annoying bug

I can also confirm that this still exists in Hardy Heron Beta that was just released.

I confirm the confirmation others confirmed :-/ Freezes at 100%

"top" reveals ubiquity is using 4 to 5 % CPU. Maybe this can help :

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lsof | grep ubiquity
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() tmpfs file system /cow
      Output information may be incomplete.

ubiquity 9035 ubuntu txt unknown /proc/9035/exe (readlink: Permission denied)

Keep going, guys...

When ubiquity hangs, can you run `ps auxf` and paste the part of the tree that contains ubiquity and all of its children?

Thanks
