libomp5 got held back; `apt-get remove libomp5` allowed `sudo do-release-upgrade` to continue.

Bug Description
when running
sudo do-release-upgrade
I got an error message requesting that I run ppa-purge (I'm afraid that I no longer have the exact text of the error message). There was additional text that suggested looking at the contents of /var/log/
I checked the dependencies for libomp5, there weren't any important ones, so I ran
sudo apt-get remove libomp5
I was able to run the upgrade at that point.
If I had been thinking, I would have gotten the output from
apt-cache policy libomp5
Unfortunately, I ran apt-cache policy, apt-get remove and do-release-upgrade in the same terminal, the upgrade overwrote my entire scroll back buffer, so I can't tell you what version I had installed.
