Game crash when a player dies

Bug Description

When a nibble player dies (both AI and human) the game crashes with this message:

ERROR:linkedlist.c:1169:gee_linked_list_real_get: assertion failed: (index < this._size)
Bail out! ERROR:linkedlist.c:1169:gee_linked_list_real_get: assertion failed: (index < this._size)

Step to reproduce:
Start the game and die by losing all your life.

Using my Lubuntu hirsute system, I installed gnome-nibbles & played a bit... On working out what was going on, I killed my character and crash

I re-tested this on my Lubuntu HIRSUTE system; started game, and killed my game-character a few times with only the 'crash' sound effect occurring (as each life was lost). No game crashes :)
