Bug Description

-----------------------------------------------
Description: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
Release: 20.04
-----------------------------------------------
thunderbird 74.8.1 - channel lastest/stable
-----------------------------------------------
I try to connect to an exist profile in a ntfs partition.
But the "Read/write files on removable storage device option" is missing in permissions.
----------------------------------------------
I can't launch thunderbird with a profile located in a mnt (ntfs partition) device.

Thunderbird does not have auto-connect of removable-media, and i can't connect it manually with:

snap connect thunderbird:removable-media

Tags: snap

Thank you for your bug report, the removable-media interface has been removed since xdg portals are used to access files now. Was the removable-media giving access to ntfs mounts?

Yes. The partition is mounted on startup.

I can access to data in this partition, create folders, files, remove documents etc.

I have a profile for firefox in this ntfs partition and no problem to load.

Eventualy i install thunderbird manually to work with email, and cero problem loading this profile.

With this installation in manual i can create a new profile in this partition because when launch thunderbird -p, and follow the steps to create a new profile i can do this in this partition.

With snap installation i can't do this because thunderbird can't access to this ntfs file system.

With version 78.4.0 snap thunderbird works fine with the profile in ntfs partition.

Today is holiday in Spain (Is a work equipment). Tomorrow i'll share the log (i hope, because i have install thunderbird manually). I'll try it tomorrow.

was it working with the snap before we removed the removable-media interface?

Yes. All was ok.

what type of device is used and how is it mounted?

A partition in another hard drive. I have an ssd with ubuntu and w10 and another hard drive with two partitions in ntfs (data and backup).

The data partition was configurated by disk app of ubuntu. Mount at start up the sistem. Tomorrow send more tecnical information.

Thanks, it's a bit a special case but there is probably no arm adding back the removable-media interface (which isn't connected by default anyway)
