Bug Description

I configure my touchpad with
- tap to click and
- natural scrolling

After every reboot these settings are forgotten. When I open the settings again, both are toggled ON. I have to toggle it off and back on again, then it works until the next reboot.

I think also sleeping (closing lid or timeout) makes it forget the settings.

Interestingly, I had that problem also with the previous installation which was kubuntu. I think it was 20.04. I assumed that it was a bug in kde, but who knows.

I am relatively sure that in the installation before the kubuntu one I did not have the problem, but this is now really long ago, so my memory might be failing me. It was some ubuntu installation, probably 19.10, but maybe even older.

I am experiencing this as well, it worked on 20.04 Focal and is broken on 20.10 Groovy and 21.04 Hirsute as of today with the latest Hirsute packages.

I am using GNOME with a Logitech T650 touchpad. If I unplug and replug the receiver it forgets again. I then have to toggle both natural scrolling (Settings->Touchpad) and "mouse click emulations" (Tweaks) each to have it work again.

Given this is apparently common accross GNOME and KDE perhaps it is somehow related to libinput rather than gnome-shell/settings/etc?
