I built the backport, for reference, in the attached.

* It builds without modification (except for the changelog entry)
* It installs correctly
* It runs

Sorry, the Ubuntu Technical Board isn't in a position to make any particular team do work, so I'm unsubscribing the Technical Board from this bug and unassigning them.

You need a review from someone in the Ubuntu Backporters Team. Unfortunately that team doesn't have any active reviewers at the moment, which means that the backports pocket is effectively dead. The problem is that backports reviews is generally a thankless task, and there are few people qualified to do them. So we tend to be short of volunteers in this area.

In general, snaps are a better solution for backports since they can safely be self-published without manual review. However, this doesn't make sense for dh-virtualenv. I suggest you keep using a PPA in this case.

This bug can remain open in case someone from the Ubuntu Backporters Team is able to review it. However I don't expect this to happen in practice.
