Bug Description
I doubt there's much point in asking a question about this, because a couple of hours searching the Internet turned up nothing on this problem, on launchpad.net or anywhere else.
When I try to run Sigil 1.1 installed from the Canonical repository on a Dell Optiplex GX620 running 64 bit Xubuntu 20.04 installed from an iso (because do-release-upgrade failed beyond repair), I get the error message:
/usr/local/
That tells me that libpython3.
I found very few references to libpython3.
So I can't tell if this is a bug, or due to a capability missing from the older GX620, or to a forgotten error message being triggered that is no longer valid and therefore tells nothing about the error that triggered it...

Hi,
I just tried, and here sigil runs seamlessly on focal.
I can't imagine how it could be looking for libpython3.6m.so, when sigl in focal was built against python 3.8.
Can we double checkout that you are actually running the sigil I expect you to? Please run
sha256sum /usr/lib/ x86_64- linux-gnu/ sigil/sigil
and try to run that binary instead of plain `sigil`
