@quanxian,

Does "Intel client platforms" mean normal PC or Laptops? If possible, please run 'apport-collect 1900792' to collect the log, and I will try to install 20.10.

we tried latest kernel 5.9-rc8, legacy audio works. dp/hdmi also works.
with 5.8 kernel, legacy doesn't work, it should be a regression.
DP/HDMI are under verification, should work, but need confirmation from our QA.

1) originally we use speaker-test to test HDMI/DP/Legacy, failed on Ubuntu 20.10. with 5.9 official kernel, works fine.

2) now we change to another method to test audio, works well.

Summary:
Seems test tools has some issue.
5.9 official kernel support speaker-test, but in 5.8 (ubuntu 20.10), doesn't support speaker-test well.

new method to test audio:

here are our testing step, hope it will give you some hints.

Update
Kernel: 5.8.0-20-generic
Steps:
1. settings-> Sound -> Output Device
2. Click the Test, then click the audio symbol to check the sound.

CML-S/H, ICL-Y/U:
Legacy/DP/HDMI audio PASS

TGL-H:
Legacy/DP audio PASS

CML-U.V2, TGL-Y/U:
No legacy audio device in "aplay -l"

JSL:
Legacy audio PASS. (No graphic driver)

EHL:
aplay: device_list:274: no soundcards found...(No graphic driver)
