modprobe i8k
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'dell_smm_hwmon': No such device

I had to force it:
modprobe i8k force=1

Note that for this to be persistent, you need to create the file i8k.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/ containing the line options i8k force=1

in short, I don't think that this package is working properly
