Ubuntu crashes

After rendering 32-bit ubuntu crashes when pushing the play button, at least when the animation was rendered with avi-jpeg. I use ubuntu 7.10.

It might help to know what file you were trying to render (or at least a similar file), so one can reproduce this bug.

Any file. Use the default scene's cube. Press I => loc, then arrow up couple of times and I = loc again to move the cube a bit and make a avi-jpeg animation.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 or 9.04?
