Bug Description

HP ColorLaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw and hplip version 3.20.6, autoinstalled for Ubuntu 20.04 no wireless communication.
Hplip diagnose says: printer is either powered off or failed to communicate in wireless mode.
USB cable works fine.
Printer setup: WIFI is on connected to home network, IPv4 = 192.168.2.107 (hp default)
Printer diagnosis for wireless connection successful
Hplip finds the printer but does not finish the installation (communication error?)
I deinstalled and reinstalled hplip which did not help.

Hi ,

You are saying "Printer diagnosis for wireless connection successful". So can you print via network using ip or are you facing any issue in that also ?

The error you are seeing is because of the below bug. Could you please refer below link for your bug:

Changed in hplip:
status: New → In Progress

Hi Shivani,
thank you for your reply. In the meantime (after 1 week of desperate
work) I fixed the problem, halleluya!!
My desktop, hardwired to the router, had never problem with wireless
printing and pinging was ok 3-5 ms.
My laptop is WLAN connected and had the printing problem. Pinging
showed no connection to the printer.
My router has 2 frequencies: 2.4 and 5 Ghz where my laptop uses 2.4 Ghz
and the printer was set to either frequencies.
After I set printer frequency to 2.4 Ghz (same as my laptop) all of a
sudden everything works as it should do.

Maybe this can help other users with same or similar problem with
wireless printing.
