Nmap recently released their next major update - 7.90

The package manager claims

> nmap is already the newest version (7.80+dfsg1-2build1).

Hi,

Ubuntu is not a rolling distribution, which means that once a new version is released packages are only upgraded to fix bugs. A new release of Ubuntu is cut every six months, normally including the most up to date versions of all the packages.

The next release of Ubuntu that will include nmap >= 7.90 is likely to be 21.04, to be released in April 2021.
