Bug Description
Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree
Actual flashplugin-nonfree does not contain any Adobe flash player file, it is just a postinst script that download and install flash from the Adobe website. This script uses Md5sum to make sure that the upstream tarball is the good one. This causes many problems :
1. When Adobe update his flash version, the flashplugin-nonfree package does not install anymore because of a md5sum missmatch
2. Since the script only use postscript, synaptic reports the package as installed when it failed, and if we change the postinst file to return 1 value when the md5sum missmatch, synaptic would continually try to reinstall flash each time it would install a package or a update.
The most logical way to fix these problems would be to include the flash player tarball from the official website in the source package from multiverse. If Canonical can take care to gain the permission of Adobe to distribute flash to their users, I believe that this would avoid a lot of future huge quantity of duplicates bugs like bug 173890.
