Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" [WWW] http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Thanks for reporting the bug.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce it (under Debian/unstable), and I don't have really a good idea what's going on.

I have the exact some version of sun java; the only thing that strikes me is that java coredumps with regard to libxcb-xlib.so.0. I don't have this package (libxcb-xlib0) installed, and jabref doesn't need it.

So my guess is that this is not a problem of jabref but of either sun-java6-* or libxcb-xlib0 (or both of them).

Therefore I suggest to reassign this bug to sun-java6-* (and to remove the "incomplete" flag) but I don't want to mess up Ubuntu's bug tracker.

Cheers,
gregor (maintainer of jabref in Debian)

My co-maintainer Tony Mancill kindly pointed my to a related bug in Debian's BTS:

Yes, the log is a little long :)
Summary: it's a sun-java bug in comination with locking, Xlib/XCB, and Xinerama.

Oh, and there's also a bug in Launchpad:
#86103 (which has 16 duplicates, I guess here we have the 17th :)
and #188893 seems like the next duplicate)

Cheers,
gregor
