Bug Description
Binary package hint: xsane
Hello I use Ubuntu 7.10 (French)
on the following (small) bug happens.
Since Gutsy the Desktop is mapped to the folder:
- /home/user/Desktop in English
- /home/user/Bureau in French
- /home/user/Büro in German
.. and so on ...
Steps to reproduce the bug:
*1 Use an non-english version (for instance I use the French one, and the Desktop folder is /home/user/Bureau )
*2 do a scan
*3 the scanner scans the image and the "xsane image viewer" pops up
*4 click on the "save" button
*5 the save dialog box appears and there are 3 shortcuts on the dialog box: One to the user's home folder, on to the desktop folder and one to the documents folder.
*6 click on the "Desktop" shortcut
=> the image is then "saved" to the /home/user/Desktop folder instead of the /home/user/Bureau folder. So a new folder is created and the user does not see the images appear on his desktop. This type of behavior can totally fool a total beginner: the images seems disappearing to him.
Additionnally,
the 3 shortcuts of point *5 are not translated (on french version)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release (Hardy Heron)? Thanks in advance.
