Bug Description
Currently, when adding or editing barcodes in holdings maintenance, if a scanned barcode is a duplicate of an already saved one, the duplicate barcode message displays as soon as it is scanned and user is unable to save the item or edits until they correct the barcode.
However, if user is scanning barcodes either to add or edit items, if the new, not yet saved barcode is scanned multiple times, the duplicate barcode message does not display. More importantly to workflow, when save & exit is chosen with the duplicated barcodes in place, the holdings editor closes, and the items silently fail to save.
Desired behavior:
1) On subsequent scan of the same barcode, duplicate barcode message displays and save & exit button is inactive.
or,
2) If duplicate barcodes exist in items to be added or edited, choosing save & exit generates an error message that a duplicate barcode exists, and changes/additions cannot be saved. The holdings editor does not close when the error message is cleared by the cataloger. All edits and additions are retained and they can correct the duplicated barcode and save.

Instead of a duplicate error message when adding new duplicate barcodes, upon save and exit, the error message is Event 2001 Database Update Failed. No details about why. Image of the error is attached.
