Bug Description

Updated kernel to 5.7.12 and updated nvidia driver to 450 yesterday but only experiencing this today.

Random stuttering while playing minecraft, no clue what's causing it but I checked system monitor and it shows random spikes of a cpu thread to 100% and some spikes staying at 100% for a prolonged period.

It may be related to me updating my video driver that is not recommended so I will see if switching down will resolve the issue. I never had this issue on driver 440.

Stuttering seems to be fixed after downgrading to driver 440.

Stuttering is not fixed. Only seems to happen while in discord and playing the game.

This sounds similar to bug 1883456... Please:

1. Try opening the 'Extensions' app and disable 'Ubuntu AppIndicators'. Does that fix it?

2. Run 'top' and tell us if any process is using high CPU.

3. Run the following commands after you have experienced the issue:

   journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
   gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt

and attach the resulting text files here.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
Changed in gnome-shell (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Thanks. Your journal.txt seems to confirm this is a duplicate of bug 1849142. To avoid the problem just do what I suggested above:

Open the 'Extensions' app and disable 'Ubuntu AppIndicators'.

I looked and I already had Ubuntu AppIndicators turned off.

You may also need to log out and in again. If the problem persists then please provide a new log by running:

  journalctl -b0 > journal-again.txt

That's definitely still bug 1849142 coming from:

Are you sure you disabled 'Ubuntu AppIndicators' in the 'Extensions' app?

Remember to use the 'Extensions' app and not 'Gnome Tweaks'.

I couldn't find extensions app so I thought it was gnome tweaks. I will try to keep looking for extensions app.
