But it's doesn't work. Java just not loading.
I also tried Firefox 3.0 beta 2, same result.
In Kubuntu 7.10 all works fine.

I already tried sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun but it's doesnt help.

Same problem using fully updated ubuntu 8.04. Using a workaround from here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=621864) fixed it for me.

$ sudo sed -i 's/XINERAMA/FAKEEXTN/g' /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.04/jre/lib/i386/xawt/libmawt.so

(I changed 1.6.0.03 to 1.6.0.04 because that is the version I am using)

Changed in sun-java6:
status: New → Confirmed

If that line works for you, then I think this bug is related to upstream bug (http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6532373), as well as bug #190030 (http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sun-java6/+bug/190030).

Also possibly related to: #185311 and #86103.

I mean bug #86103 and bug #185311. (Hope it works this time)

I did a fresh install of 8.04 daily live 13Feb08 and had the same problem.
The inline sed replacement on libmawt.so did the trick! Thanks!

...well almost. I can see the splash screen now at least (http://www.runescape.com), but firefox dies when loading the applet.

I tested the applet at runescape, and everything works fine in it. Try running firefox from the command line and post the errors you get.

I think this is working fine if you install from alpha 5, it works for me now.
