Bug Description

The Word Definition of 'weal' shows:
<<
weal ~ noun very rare
 1. a raised mark on the skin (as produced by the blow of a whip); characteristic of many allergic reactions
>>
Maybe this '1.' indicates there was something else supposed to come but that did not by mistake or something.
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Third Edition © 1996 by Houghton Mifflin gives these two senses --
First:
<<
weal1
weal (wêl) noun
1.Prosperity; happiness: in weal and woe.
2.The welfare of the community; the general good: the public weal.
[Middle English wele, from Old English wela.]
>>
Second:
<<
weal2
weal (wêl) noun
A ridge on the flesh raised by a blow; a welt.
[Alteration (influenced by wheal), of wale.]
>>
This incompleteness in Artha is quite surprising, because I always get a very good word definition in Artha, usually better and more complete than other dictionaries. It may have happened that the supposed second sense, mentioned earlier, was omitted by mistake in Artha, given by AHDEL as its first sense. And this sense (welfare, general good, the public weal) is prevalent in Economics textbooks
