Justification for sync:

The diffstat from the old Ubuntu delta http://patches.ubuntu.com/i/imagemagick/imagemagick_7:6.3.7.9.dfsg1-2ubuntu3.patch

 Magick++/lib/Geometry.cpp | 1
 _configs.sed | 8
 debian/changelog | 36 ++++
 debian/control | 3
 debian/patches/series | 1
 debian/patches/use-only-one-the.patch | 300 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
 magick/magick-config.h | 14 -
 7 files changed, 356 insertions(+), 7 deletions(-)

 * Magick++/lib/Geometry.cpp possibly not needed
 * _configs.sed is a leftover file not used
 * debian/control only had Maintainer change
 * debian/patches/use-only-one-the.patch should really go upstream, and it's a mess to keep up to date
 * magick/magick-config.h is autogenerated

The parallel build stuff in debian/rules breaks on lpia. Attaching the WIP debdiff, but it fails to build in my ppa.

Please note that debian/patches/use-only-one-the.patch is purely cosmetic. It corrects some instances of "the the" instead of "the" in documentation and comments.

debian/patches/use-only-one-the.patch isn't necessary for version 6.4.3.2.dfsg1-1

The parallel building is broken on the buildds (but it works on my machine). I need to investigate (see http://bugs.debian.org/496212).

About syncing it, probably you will have the same "problem" as us on Debian. Some packages will FTBFS with the new ImageMagick (I have sent patches on Debian BTS) and others will need to change the build-dependencies.
It isn't an "easy" transition.

Nelson, thanks a lot for this information. Maybe we'll need to hold it off a bit then.

I was especially interested in getting the fix for bug #178575, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=468692. Do you know if it's practical to backport this fix?

Hi!

The fixed version (with parallel building) is available on Debian experimental.
About the fix for bug #178575, I will take a look at it (but I can't promise that it will be fast)

You can search for this fix using http://trac.imagemagick.org/browser/ImageMagick; I know that it has been fixed on version 6.3.9-1 (http://<email address hidden>/msg00544.html) so it should make things easier to compare this version against a previous buggy one.

6.4.5.4.dfsg1-1ubuntu1 is now available in Jaunty, therefore marking as "Fix released".

For specific crashers, please file separate bugs and the must go through the SRU process then.
