Bug Description

Currently if you import a record from the Z39.50 UI, it does not set the bib source. We would like to add an option to auto-populate the imported record with a particular bib source.

Confirmed. I think that would be very convenient.

Would adding a drop-down for selecting the source near the Import button serve the purpose? (I note that Edit then Import does let you set the source before saving the record.)

If so, should the current selected value for the bib source be sticky? If it should be sticky, should it be sticky across the board (i.e., having the same sticky value apply to the drop-down in the MARC editor)?

I would prefer it to be something that would require no action by a cataloger at the time of import. Even having a current selected value be sticky would mean that the cataloger would have to set it at least once and perhaps have to remember to check it occasionally in case something (like clearing a cache too completely) "unset" it.

+1 to Elaine's comment. In our use case, we have a z39.50 source called "oclc", and a bib source called "oclc". It would be great to save catalogers a few clicks by always setting records imported from the OCLC z39.50 source to have the OCLC bib source.

We don't have such a 1:1 relationship for all z39.50 sources, so we wouldn't want all z39.50 sources to behave this way.

We only have one Z39.50 source (OCLC) and want all records set with "oclc" as the bib source. We do understand, however, that other libraries might have multiple Z39.50 sources and might need a specific bib source for each, for only some, or none.

For those libraries needing different bib sources tied to individual Z39.50 sources, having the ability to universally set the bib source at specific Z39.50 sources/targets, would definitely save catalogers "clicks" and ensure the correct source was set.
