Unable to install Ubuntu MATE 20.10 daily on MBR system - bootloader install failed

Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download groovy-daily for MATE ()
2. Insert ISO into VirtualBox VM without EFI (so MBR is used)
3. Follow the installation wizard for Install (entire disk) instruction

Expected results:
* system is installed normally with GRUB bootloader

Actual results:
* system installation is interrupted on the GRUB installation stage (see screenshot of the error attached) with error window and text "Sorry, an error occurred and it was not possible to install the bootloader at the specified location.".
