Bug Description
Using 20.04, with or without patches/updates, if one 1. installs terminator and 2. sets it as preferred terminal emulator, then it never gets defaulted/opened when pressing MOD4+t.
Perhaps a little bit more alarming is the fact that looking under "keyboard shortcuts" I am unable to locate the MOD4+t sequencing yet pressing MOD4+t opens a terminal.
I have also uninstalled all terminals (minus terminator), set it as preferred terminal emulator and regardless if it's just terminator left it will complain about a missing term-mate(I didn't save the exact error message).
Solution: create CTRL+ALT+t launch for Terminator even tho it reigns uselessly under preferred.
I am 50% confident that this worked in 19.10 yet 90% confident that it worked in 18.04.4.

I do not use Ubuntu, but I use Mate 1.24.1 on debian bullseye (testing). For me too, pressing mod4+t open mate-terminal. mod4+t does not appear anywhere in "keyboard shortcuts". I tried to assign this shortcut to another command, but that did not work.
