Bug Description

[ Impact ]

In focal

libmozjs-60 has the default library libmozjs-60.so.0

/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libmozjs-60.so.0
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libmozjs-60.so.0.0.0
/usr/share/doc/libmozjs-60-0/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/libmozjs-60-0/copyright

but in the focal today, libmozjs-68 doesn't have the softlink libmozjs-68.so.0

/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libmozjs-68.so.68
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libmozjs-68.so.68.6.0
/usr/share/doc/libmozjs-68-0/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/libmozjs-68-0/copyright

which means linking with -l raises errors.

Thanks for all your excellent work.

[ Test case ]

Run:
  dpkg -L libmozjs-68-0|grep "libmozjs.*\.so.0"

It should return a file path such as:

lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2020-06-03 22:16 ./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libmozjs-68.so.0 -> libmozjs-68.so.68.9.0

Steve Langasek (vorlon) wrote : Proposed package upload rejected

An upload of mozjs68 to focal-proposed has been rejected from the upload queue for the following reason: "This is a full upstream update with no approved exception; the tlinked SRU bug and test case addresses only a missing symlink; there are packaging changes (build-dependencies) that have no test case / regression analysis. Does not meet the SRU policy.".
