Symptoms:
The system will lock right when it should shutdown or restart. The screen goes blank (but monitor doesn't turn off) and keyboard becomes locked up (i.e. numpad LED still lit, but will not respond).

Only solution is to keep holding Power down for 10 seconds.

Attached core dump from lightdm which seems to be generated with the crash.

CPU: ryzen 5 3400g

As my ubuntu kernel updated to 5.3.0-53 I started facing issue in shutdown and reboot my pc. As I shutdown my pc from os, monitor screen goes off but cpu fan and other fan connected to smps kept on running and if I reboot my pc from os then same happen monitor screen goes off and cpu fan and other fan kept on running so I downgraded my kernel from 5.3.0-53 to 5.3.0-51 and it's fixed the issue now all work well.

Buen día chicos , les traigo una solución , que es subir el kernel a una versión mas estable , en mi caso use "ukuu" para poder instalar otro kernel https://github.com/teejee2008/ukuu/releases ,
en mi caso yo subí a "Linux 5.3.0-050300-generic" quizá lo encontraran en ukuu como "Linux 5.3" estará junto a las versiones de ubuntu.

Solo presionan en instalar y tardara unos minutos , al final mostrara las instrucciones de que debe hacer,entre ellas (en resumen) reiniciar y elegir en el "grub" la nueva versión que tendrán algo asi:"5.3.0-050300-generic", res recomiendo editar el "grub" posteriormente para que inicie el sistema desde ese kernel deseado.

NOTA:Se recomienda usar el kernel del repositorio oficial del sistema , esta operación puede traer fallos debido a que no esta certificada por el repositorio del sistema, pero por necesidad se puede realizar estas operaciones.

Este proceso fue realizado en mi laptop el 2020/28/5.
