Bug Description

On Hardy, the latest trunk builds of Firefox (*not* the packages provided by Ubuntu) render many transparent or scaled images incorrectly and some not at all.

Mozilla bug 411831 ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411831 ) includes a detailed description.

It's suspected ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411831#c14 ) that Firefox is exposing a bug in Hardy's X.org.

To reproduce: download, extract and run the latest trunk build of Firefox (“Minefield”: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ ); most transparent or scaled images are not rendered correctly. For example, on https://help.ubuntu.com/ the unselected tabs display no background image.

To be clear, this is not a bug in either of the Firefox packages in Hardy (firefox & firefox-3.0), but may be a bug in Hardy's graphics infrastructure.

This bug also affects Liferea (1.4.11), so there may in fact be a bug in Ubuntu's Mozilla/Gecko/Xulrunner 1.9 / Firefox 3 packages.
