Bug Description

Hi,

This is simple to reproduce and I experienced this also on 19.10.

First, make sure you have enabled "double-click on top bar of window to minimize" feature, I'm using that because its easy and fast for me to minimize the window.

1. Make sure you have any folder (like home) or file on desktop but in Big size and Top-Center location of desktop (I have many folders and files which are on top-center location so when I click double-click on topbar of window, issue appears)
2. Open Files for example
3. Double-click on top bar of window to minimize it
4. Observe issue (make sure you double-clicked on top bar but to be folder or file behind it exactly.. because thats the point, when folder or file is behind that bar where you perform double-click, it will minimize the window + open that folder or file

Actual result: Window minimized + folder opened
Expected result: Just window minimized

The problem doesn't seem to happen for me when I enable: Double-Click = Minimize

I suspect your mouse or touchpad might be omitting too many events. Can you please put some other app under the titlebar and see if the extra clicks go through to that app? I want to see if we can remove the desktop-icons extension from the equation.

Hey, thanks for replies. I now have more info about this issue:

It is happening if you for example use FileZilla and double-click on its topbar but make sure you have something behind it like Trash, Home folder, libre doc or anything else.. It is not happening for Home folder, Files folder, Ubuntu windows like Settings or etc.. so, I believe this is happening for any external installed applications like FileZilla, Gimp, BlueMail etc. Any other app.

I will report to Gnome if you want me to, but please after you review this my latest comment on this.

I also cannot reproduce the problem with Gimp.

Can you please try a different mouse?

Tested now with 10y old Logitech Mx518 and issue reproduced with PhotoGIMP both maximizes/unmaximized. Large desktop icons, placed on top-center.

So, im not sure why you could not reproduce. Tested also with default shell and applications themes.

Hi Daniel,

Here is attached video.. In the video you'll see that sometimes it failed to reproduce issue, thats because I double-clicked in the lower part of window topbar.. I suppose.

PS. I wanted also to mention that issue is not reproducible if I set to minimize window on Scroll Click.. so just with double-click way.

I am facing a similar problem, but unlike the case of the bug reporter, in my case it happens when "double-click on top bar of window to minimize" feature is not enabled. I have never enabled that feature.

My original description of the bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1888975

I'd like to emphasize that in my case if right behind the titlebar there is another window (not desktop), the double click on the titlebar is not transferred to that window or to desktop.

I have attached three short videos showing three different scenarios. I hope that the filenames and the contents are self-explanatory.
