Binary package hint: bluez-gnome
What symmary says... Unfortunately, I don;t know what I did wrong. I used my USB adaptor on many PCs (but always paired only with my phone), I played a bit with /etc/default/

I reckon the device class option was removed from the applet and is now automatically detected. If you want the default configuration files back which usually solve issues like this, backup all your custom changes and purge bluez-utils package. Then install bluez-utils package back.
