Bug Description

Just installed 20.04 desktop beta
Installer had an issue with updating some package on final stage, but I was able to login.

Problem is pre-installed software is not listed under "Installed" section of "Ubuntu Software"
So I cannot uninstall thunderbird, firefox etc.
Only items listed as installed are:
 - canonical-livepatch
 - gnome ubuntu stack
 - gtk-common-themes
 - snap-store (is it true name of "Ubuntu Software")
 - core - snapd runtime environment

So as soon as all the preinstalled soft is not considered as installed - it's possible to install everything again, and, finally, to have two copies of thunderbird when searching for app via Win key. (in hud)

Installing and uninstalling doesn't help, after I installed and uninstalled thunderbird, pre-installed instance is still here and runnable.

Just a bit more details about installation error, if it matters:
 - I installed new 20.04 while being booted from iso using grml-rescueboot on Ubuntu 18.04 and another HDD
 - Before install I started live session, enabled wifi connection
 - in installer checked 'download updates' checkbox
 - at the very end of installation some error happened.
 - Finally FireFox was opened and I was redirected here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1866844
(or something similar)

I have the same problem it seems on a fresh Ubuntu 20.04 beta iso.
Apps like Thunderbird or Firefox do not appear as installed but, oddly enough, some such as Shotwell,Libre Office and Cheese do.
Unlike the op, I did not encounter any issue during the installation however.

Just reinstalled Ubuntu 20.04 from released iso - bug is still there.
This time I didn't check "Download updates" checkbox and installation passed without issues
This time in Ubuntu software I see much more pre-installed soft, but still no firefox, no thunderbird so I can't uninstall them

I can confirm this issue. Another fact: if you search for those apps not listed as installed, they nevertheless show the installed badge in their descriptions.
