Bug Description

Some APT installed programs, like Firefox, are not recognized as installed. The app gives me a list of Snap pkgs of Firefox but it doesn't allow me to uninstall the current installed version (that came pre-installed using apt).
Also, it doesn't recognize some other packages installed via ".Deb". For instance, "MongoDB Compass". In this case it doesn't even list the package as installed.

This is *not* a duplicate of #1873040. It is a completely different issue.

I think that the issue with Firefox not displaying in Snap Store should now be fixed in Ubuntu 20.04. There was a problem with Firefox/Thunderbird having their icons as symlinks which were not supported by AppStream generator.

Hi Bruno, could you please confirm that this issue is now resolved?

Marcus, i'm sorry for the delay.

It works if i search for Firefox and then click on it. The "installed" label is shown and i have the option to remove it. However, it still doesn't appear on the "installed" tab, like the other programs.

On the other hand, i also tested with MongoDB and Chrome, and both correctly appears as installed apps on "installed" tab. They're shown with no icon and with the original package name, but that's ok. The only minor problem is that i can't search for them. The only way to access them is using "installed" tab.

I'm testing it with 20.04.1 Beta, with proposed updated, fully upgraded.

I think this may be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/snap-store-desktop/+bug/1873690, although this generalizes that or, at least, it's not restricting the issue to pre-installed software.
