Bug Description

Had to install chromium which works fine. Firefox worked fine before the 2 updates on April 4, 2020. Maybe coincidence. I don't know. Linux Mint Tricia. Bionic.

Could you provide the apt log as well as the specific error you're getting from Firefox? If you try downgrading the libgd2 binary packages, does something change?

Firefox just hangs with dot moving back and forth in front of the tab. After a while, I think it tells me it cannot connect. apt log follows:

Have not tried downgrading to libgd2. I'd prefer to try to uninstall firefox, clean out cache, and reinstall. Think this is worth try? I'm new to linux.

Thanks! Taking a glance at the log it looks as if there have been a couple of Firefox updates (to version 74.0 then 75.0) which would more likely be causing your networking issues. Reinstalling would certainly be worth a try.

It turns out if I turn off the umatrix extension, firefox works again. So must be conflict between umatrix and libgd3. Chromium works fine with all the extensions I have installed. But yes. I have to turn off umatrix extension to use firefox under libgd3. Thanks!

Good finding! Could it be that issue: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uMatrix-issues/issues/241 ?
