not a proper source patch, but shows the line that needs fixing to stop complaints under apt.

The attachment "remove spurious newline" seems to be a patch. If it isn't, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are a member of the ~ubuntu-reviewers, unsubscribe the team.

So, when the fix applied to the release? This is more than 4 months since the fix available.

I remember, maybe a month ago, I manually edit "/usr/share/applications/screensavers/glitchpeg.desktop" to remove the newline, but for some reason, the file is overwritten to the old one that broken, probably during "apt upgrade".

$ ls --full-time /usr/share/applications/screensavers/glitchpeg.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 389 2019-01-28 04:40:05.000000000 +0700 /usr/share/applications/screensavers/glitchpeg.desktop

In my experience, small issues like this will seldom be fixed in the old release (20.04). It is a small enough fix, but there is enough "paperwork" involved (SRU process) that nobody will take their time for this.

I would recommend installing the 6.02 version from my PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
(This is the original Debian version, so without the Ubuntu branding.)

If you make a local modification of the file, it will be overwritten next time the package is upgraded or reinstalled. The package in 20.04 has not been updated since the release though.
